What is the free consultation for?

In this video I explain this time is so I can understand more about you, what brings you to therapy and what you want from it. It provides you the opportunity to decide if you feel comfortable with me and for me to consider whether I am the right therapist for you.

Finding the right therapist

This is important because research repeatedly shown that the single most curative factor in therapy isn’t simply the technique employed, or the therapeutic approach but the relationship between client and therapist that develops during the course of treatment.

What ever concerns you or you want reassurance on, it is alright to ask your question. There is no definitive list and every question is valid.

Difference in counselling and psychotherapy?

Counselling is usually more short term, addressing specific problems or life situations where as psychotherapy is typically a longer term process which focuses on deeper issues (past experiences) and patterns you may have experienced in your life.

It is worth noting, because of their training, a psychotherapist can provide counselling . A counsellor can not provide psychotherapy.

What is couples therapy?

By talking through relationship difficulties from each person's perspective enables couples, through gathering information about their family of origin, make sense of how their upbringing has shaped their experience of the world and their relationship.

Each person can then develop a greater understanding of themselves, how they behave and communicate with their partner, and how they are experienced by the other.

What is group therapy?

Group therapy offers a unique opportunity for learning from others’ experiences and the opportunity to learn about how others might see you, and from the types of interaction you tend to get into with other people.

You may find hearing how others cope with similar challenges gives you new perspectives on your situation.

In a group setting you’ll need to be comfortable sharing personal information with others.
